I’m sure you are wondering why we have an Adopt-A-Child page on a dog kennel website. The owners, Glenn and Denise, have adopted children and want to raise awareness of what is happening in our country.

On any given day, there are nearly 428,000 children in foster care in the United States.  There is one foster child for every one hundred and eighty four children in the USA.

In 2015, more than 20,000 young people aged out of foster care without permanent families. Research has shown that those who leave care without being linked to forever families have a higher likelihood than youth in the general population to experience homelessness, unemployment and incarceration as adults. Studies show that 80% of those incarcerated have been in the foster care system at least one time in their childhood.

It is a common misconception that foster families have a high income. The average household income for households with foster children is $56,364. The average household income for households with children (not foster children) is $74,301.

Adopting a child from foster care costs next to nothing! And 92% of the children are eligible for a monthly cash subsidy from the state. Sadly, 10% of children age out of foster care without ever having found a family. Every child deserves a family.

We ask that whether it be raising awareness, sharing children who needs homes on your facebook, becoming a foster parent, adopting a child, or supporting and helping foster families - that you find a way to help the orphans in our country. Every child deserves to know they are loved.
